Harvick to Go “Platinum” for Bristol Night Race
The first time Kevin Harvick went platinum he had a really big day, or night to be exact – he took home more than $1 million dollars for winning the NASCAR Nextel All-Star Challenge at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in May. Kevin Harvick is hoping for another great night of racing under the lights at Bristol Motor Speedway August 25 when his No. 29 car will again be decked out with a shining platinum colored paint scheme in recognition of his sponsorship from Pennzoil Platinum® full synthetic motor oil.
"The night race at Bristol is always one of the most anticipated of the season, and everyone at Pennzoil wishes Kevin Harvick and his Pennzoil Platinum® sponsored team the best for the first NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race on the track’s new racing surface," said David Lerch, motorsports manager for Pennzoil.
The Pennzoil Platinum® logo is not only on the outside of Kevin Harvick’s car; Pennzoil Platinum® motor oil is in his engine as well. In fact, Pennzoil Platinum® full synthetic motor oil protects every NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series engine that takes to the track for Richard Childress Racing.
While every sponsor looks for brand recognition through their sponsorships of NASCAR race teams, Pennzoil gains something more through its relationship with RCR: technology and testing in a harsh racing environment that can be used to improve the motor oil that consumers put in their vehicles. The technical support program also enables RCR and Pennzoil engineers to work closely throughout the season to develop motor oil formulations to help maximize engine performance and reliability for the team.
