Kevin Harvick Inc. Driver Cale Gale Proves He’ll Do Anything to Drive in NASCAR’s Elite Series
“How Bad Do You Want It?”
KERNERSVILLE, N.C. (January 23, 2008) – Ask Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) driver Cale Gale, “How bad do you want it?” and the likely response will be bad.
During NASCAR’s Nationwide Series test at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway January 18-22, Gale proved that he is indeed willing to do whatever it takes to succeed in NASCAR’s elite series.
Gale not only tested the No. 77 KHI Chevrolet, but he also built shocks and spotted for teammate Kevin Harvick in the No. 33 KHI Chevrolet. Gale spent the first two days of testing spotting for Harvick and gaining valuable insight on how to get around the famous 2.5-mile track. On the third day of testing, Gale jumped behind the wheel of the No. 77 KHI Chevrolet to take his first laps in a Nationwide Series car for both single-car and drafting sessions.
Following several days of spotting and working with Kevin Harvick, Gale took the lessons he had learned and clocked the fastest times during Monday and Tuesday’s morning test sessions.
“To spot for Kevin (Harvick) and to watch him in the draft and work traffic, definitely helped,” said Gale when asked about spotting for teammate Harvick. “I was able to watch Kevin (Harvick) and then talk with him about how I should drive the car during my test. And then to have him watch my test session and talk with me about my weak points and tell me ways to improve, that was awesome. I now have a few weeks to think about the things we discussed and prepare to return in February.
“We (KHI) have improved our speedway program this year; we made a complete change,” continued Gale. “The engines are running good, we revamped the car and did a lot of testing over the off season to make our cars better. The entire KHI team is working better and I’m just excited to be able to race for KHI.”
Gale will return for the Nationwide Series season opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway for the Camping World 300 on February 16 behind the wheel of the No. 77 KHI Chevrolet. Throughout the 2008 season, Gale will share driving duties with team co-owner Kevin Harvick and Ron Hornaday as he competes for the 2008 Rookie of the Year honors in the Nationwide Series.
