A wilder NASCAR? Don't get your hopes up
A subtle change took place late last season and became more pronounced last week when NASCAR Chairman Brian France talked about the series allowing drivers to show more personality and fire. The question is how far will series officials allow the competitors to go without being penalized.
"It's not going to be some big change,'' Carl Edwards told me.
He's right. While NASCAR will allow some breathing room -- series officials didn't penalize Juan Pablo Montoya and Kevin Harvick for a confrontation at Waktins Glen last year when they did for a similar incident between Jeff Gordon and Matt Kenseth at Bristol in 2006 -- you're not going to see a whole lot more than what you've seen before.
Is that enough for you the fan? What's missing and how can NASCAR recpature it to help you maintain your interest? What should NASCAR do? Check out my story that's linked and let me know how you feel about this topic.
