Q&A with Kevin Harvick
Kevin Harvick has been running well in recent weeks and is fighting to remain in contention for a Chase berth. He talked racing and the Chase this week.
You seem to be doing well at the right time. What has happened?
Well, we’ve been running really well for at least 2 1/2 months now. We didn’t have the finishes to show for everything that had been turned around. … You know, there’s just better cars, better engines, better everything.
There will be a couple of races in the Chase at track on which the Cars of Tomorrow have not yet run. Will that be a factor?
Well, we’ve been to a lot of new tracks this year, and I think obviously Kansas is similar to quite a few of the racetracks that we go to. Homestead is kind of a unique racetrack, so that could throw an interesting twist in there. … It’s just one of those deals where the tracks are similar and you use the best notes that you can and the past history, and with the simulation and the seven posts (shaker rigs) and all the things that we have now, it seems as if the guys usually get everything pretty close by the time we get there.
How come you won’t be in the Nationwide race this weekend in Bristol?
It’s too hot.
